John
1:1-18 1. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2. He was in the beginning with God.
3. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.
4. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.
5. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
6. There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
7. This man came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all through him might believe.
8. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
9. That was the true Light which gives light to every man who comes into the world.
10. He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him.
11. He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him.
12. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name:
13. who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
14. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
15. John bore witness of Him and cried out, saying, "This was He of whom I said, `He who comes after me is preferred before me, for He was before me.' ''
16. And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace.
17. For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
18. No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him."
1:29 "The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, "Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world"
3:3-23 3. "Jesus answered and said to him, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.''
4. Nicodemus said to Him, "How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?''
5. Jesus answered, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
6. "That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7. "Do not marvel that I said to you, `You must be born again.'
8. "The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.''
9. Nicodemus answered and said to Him, "How can these things be?''
10. Jesus answered and said to him, "Are you the teacher of Israel, and do not know these things?
11. "Most assuredly, I say to you, We speak what We know and testify what We have seen, and you do not receive Our witness.
12. "If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things?
13. "No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven.
14. "And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up,
15. "that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.
16. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
17. "For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
18. "He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
19. "And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20. "For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.
21. "But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.''
22. After these things Jesus and His disciples came into the land of Judea, and there He remained with them and baptized.
23. Now John also was baptizing in Aenon near Salim, because there was much water there. And they came and were baptized."
3:36 "He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.''
4:21-24 21. "Jesus said to her, "Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father.
22. "You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews.
23. "But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.
24. "God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.''
5:24-26 24. "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.
25. "Most assuredly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live.
26. "For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself, . . ."
5:39 "You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me."
6:44-45 44. "How can you believe, who receive honor from one another, and do not seek the honor that comes from the only God?
45. "Do not think that I shall accuse you to the Father; there is one who accuses you Moses, in whom you trust."
6:65 "And He said, "Therefore I have said to you that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted to him by My Father.'' "
8:36 "Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed. "
10:9 "I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture"
10:28-30 28. "And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.
29. "My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand.
30. "I and My Father are one.''
10:38 ". . .but if I do, though you do not believe Me, believe the works, that you may know and believe that the Father is in Me, and I in Him.''
11:25-27 25. "Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.
26. "And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?''
27. She said to Him, "Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.''
12:44-50 44. "And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with graveclothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, "Loose him, and let him go.''
45. Then many of the Jews who had come to Mary, and had seen the things Jesus did, believed in Him.
46. But some of them went away to the Pharisees and told them the things Jesus did.
47. Then the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered a council and said, "What shall we do? For this Man works many signs.
48. "If we let Him alone like this, everyone will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and nation.''
49. And one of them, Caiaphas, being high priest that year, said to them, "You know nothing at all,
50. "nor do you consider that it is expedient for us that one man should die for the people, and not that the whole nation should perish.''
14:1-3 1. "Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.
2. "In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3. "And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also."
14:6-17 6. "Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
7. "If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.''
14:26 "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. "
15:1-8 1. "I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.
2. "Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.
3. "You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.
4. "Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
5. "I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
6. "If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.
7. "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.
8. "By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples. "
15:12 "This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. "
15:16 "You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you."
15:26 "But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me."
16:7-16 7. "Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.
8. "And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
9. "of sin, because they do not believe in Me;
10. "of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more;
11. "of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.
12. "I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.
13. "However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.
14. "He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.
15. "All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.
16. "A little while, and you will not see Me; and again a little while, and you will see Me, because I go to the Father.''
16:28 "I came forth from the Father and have come into the world. Again, I leave the world and go to the Father.''
17:1-8 1. "Jesus spoke these words, lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said: "Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You,
2. "as You have given Him authority over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as You have given Him.
3. "And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.
4. "I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do.
5. "And now, O Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was.
6. "I have manifested Your name to the men whom You have given Me out of the world. They were Yours, You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your word.
7. "Now they have known that all things which You have given Me are from You.
8. "For I have given to them the words which You have given Me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came forth from You; and they have believed that You sent Me."
17:12 "While I was with them in the world, I kept them in Your name. Those whom You gave Me I have kept; and none of them is lost except the son of perdition, that the Scripture might be fulfilled."
17:15-18 15. "I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one.
16. "They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.
17. "Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.
18. "As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. "
17:21-22 21. ". . .that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.
22. "And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one:"
18:36 "Jesus answered, "My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here.''
20:1-28 1. "On the first day of the week Mary Magdalene came to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb.
2. Then she ran and came to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and said to them, "They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid Him.''
3. Peter therefore went out, and the other disciple, and were going to the tomb.
4. So they both ran together, and the other disciple outran Peter and came to the tomb first.
5. And he, stooping down and looking in, saw the linen cloths lying there; yet he did not go in.
6. Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb; and he saw the linen cloths lying there,
7. and the handkerchief that had been around His head, not lying with the linen cloths, but folded together in a place by itself.
8. Then the other disciple, who came to the tomb first, went in also; and he saw and believed.
9. For as yet they did not know the Scripture, that He must rise again from the dead.
10. Then the disciples went away again to their own homes.
11. But Mary stood outside by the tomb weeping, and as she wept she stooped down and looked into the tomb.
12. And she saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.
13. Then they said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping?'' She said to them, "Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid Him.''
14. Now when she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, and did not know that it was Jesus.
15. Jesus said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?'' She, supposing Him to be the gardener, said to Him, "Sir, if You have carried Him away, tell me where You have laid Him, and I will take Him away.''
16. Jesus said to her, "Mary!'' She turned and said to Him, "Rabboni!'' (which is to say, Teacher).
17. Jesus said to her, "Do not cling to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, `I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.' ''
18. Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that He had spoken these things to her.
19. Then, the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, "Peace be with you.''
20. Now when He had said this, He showed them His hands and His side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord.
21. Then Jesus said to them again, "Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.''
22. And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit.
23. "If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.''
24. But Thomas, called Didymus, one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus came.
25. The other disciples therefore said to him, "We have seen the Lord.'' But he said to them, "Unless I see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe.''
26. And after eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus came, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, "Peace to you!''
27. Then He said to Thomas, "Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing.''
28. And Thomas answered and said to Him, "My Lord and my God!''
