Exodus
|
| 3:14-17 |
14. "And
God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM.'' And He said, "Thus you
shall say to the children of Israel, `I AM has sent me to you.' ''
15. Moreover God said to Moses, "Thus
you shall say to the children of Israel: `The Lord God of your fathers,
the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me
to you. This is My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations.'
16. "Go and gather the elders of
Israel together, and say to them, `The Lord God of your fathers, the God
of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, appeared to me, saying, "I have
surely visited you and seen what is done to you in Egypt;
17. "and I have said I will bring
you up out of the affliction of Egypt to the land of the Canaanites and
the Hittites and the Amorites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the
Jebusites, to a land flowing with milk and honey.'' ' |
| 6:2-8 |
2. "So
the woman conceived and bore a son. And when she saw that he was a beautiful
child, she hid him three months.
3. But when she could no longer hide
him, she took an ark of bulrushes for him, daubed it with asphalt and
pitch, put the child in it, and laid it in the reeds by the river's bank."
4. "I have also established My covenant
with them, to give them the land of Canaan, the land of their pilgrimage,
in which they were strangers.
5. "And I have also heard the groaning
of the children of Israel whom the Egyptians keep in bondage, and I have
remembered My covenant.
6. "Therefore say to the children
of Israel: `I am the Lord; I will bring you out from under the burdens
of the Egyptians, I will rescue you from their bondage, and I will redeem
you with an outstretched arm and with great judgments.
7. `I will take you as My people, and
I will be your God. Then you shall know that I am the Lord your God who
brings you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.
8. `And I will bring you into the land
which I swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; and I will give it
to you as a heritage: I am the Lord.' ' |
| 15:1 |
"Then Moses and the children of Israel
sang this song to the Lord, and spoke, saying: "I will sing to the
Lord, for He has triumphed gloriously! The horse and its rider He has
thrown into the sea!" |
| 17:12 |
"But Moses' hands became heavy; so
they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it. And Aaron and
Hur supported his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side;
and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. " |

5."
`Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant,
then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the
earth is Mine.
6. `And you shall be to Me a kingdom
of priests and a holy nation.' These are the words which you shall speak
to the children of Israel.''
7. So Moses came and called for the elders
of the people, and laid before them all these words which the Lord commanded
him.
8. Then all the people answered together
and said, "All that the Lord has spoken we will do.'' So Moses brought
back the words of the people to the Lord." |
| 20:1-17 |
1. "And
God spoke all these words, saying:
2. "I am the Lord your God, who brought
you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
3. "You shall have no other gods
before Me.
4. "You shall not make for yourself
a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or
that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth;
5. you shall not bow down to them nor
serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity
of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations of
those who hate Me,
6. but showing mercy to thousands, to
those who love Me and keep My commandments.
7. "You shall not take the name
of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless
who takes His name in vain.
8. "Remember the Sabbath day, to
keep it holy.
9. Six days you shall labor and do all
your work,
10. but the seventh day is the Sabbath
of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor
your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your
cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates.
11. For in six days the Lord made the
heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the
seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.
12. "Honor your father and your
mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God
is giving you.
13. "You shall not murder.
14. "You shall not commit adultery.
15. "You shall not steal.
16. "You shall not bear false witness
against your neighbor.
17. "You shall not covet your neighbor's
house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his male servant,
nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that
is your neighbor's.'' |
| 24:4 |
"And Moses wrote all the words of
the Lord. And he rose early in the morning, and built an altar at the
foot of the mountain, and twelve pillars according to the twelve tribes
of Israel." |
