| 1:6-2:11 | 6.
If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness,
we lie and do not practice the truth. 7. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. 8. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us. |
| 2:19 | 1.
My little children, these things I write to you, that you may not sin.
And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ
the righteous. 2. And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world. 3. Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. 4. He who says, "I know Him,'' and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5. But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. 6. He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked. 7. Brethren, I write no new commandment to you, but an old commandment which you have had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which you heard from the beginning. 8. Again, a new commandment I write to you, which thing is true in Him and in you, because the darkness is passing away, and the true light is already shining. 9. He who says he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in darkness until now. 10. He who loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him. 11. But he who hates his brother is in darkness and walks in darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes." |
| 2:28 | "And now, little children, abide in Him, that when He appears, we may have confidence and not be ashamed before Him at His coming." |
| 3:2 | "Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is." |
| 4:13-15 | 13.
"By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has
given us of His Spirit. 14. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as Savior of the world. 15. Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God." |
| 5:6-9 | 6.
"This is He who came by water and blood Jesus Christ; not
only by water, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who bears
witness, because the Spirit is truth. 7. For there are three who bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one. 8. And there are three that bear witness on earth: the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and these three agree as one. 9. If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater; for this is the witness of God which He has testified of His Son." |
| 1:5-9 | 5.
"And now I plead with you, lady, not as though I wrote a new
commandment to you, but that which we have had from the beginning: that
we love one another. 6. This is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the commandment, that as you have heard from the beginning, you should walk in it. 7. For many deceivers have gone out into the world who do not confess Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. 8. Look to yourselves, that we do not lose those things we worked for, but that we may receive a full reward. 9. Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son." |
| 14 | "Now Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men also, saying, "Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of His saints, . . ." |
